Teachers should assign homework to students every day,同意OR NOT

It is widely accepted that education is the most essential thing for a child. Therefore, the teaching method that teachers use are always of great controversy. Some people argue that teachers should assign homework to students everyday in order to make sure that students review the material that have been taught in class during the school day. However, still many others hold the different opinion that teachers should not regulate the exact homework for students. From my point of view, I agree the latter opinion.

First and for most, I concede that reviewing of lessons are actual important, but that does not equal the format of homework. Students have distinct learning requires and habits based on the various study plans and standards. Take Jack, one of my best friend for example. He is the top student in my class and he is accustomed to preview the lessons before the teacher giving the explanation. Thus he can understand better and keep in the upper class of  the student. But what confuses him is that our teacher assigns numerous homework that he totally masters everyday, which exploit his time for other

materials. Hence, teachers should spare the students some freedom for study.

Secondly, frequently assigned homework is likely to turn students into lazy learners and slaves of the homework. The students will always do what they are told to. And when finishing, they will not have the motivation to study more. This may be feasible in elementary and middle schools. But imagine when students enter college or even higher education systems, no one will assign them any homework at that time, they may feel helpless and idle for having

nothing to do. Let's take a serious look though the river of history, every successful celebrity is an efficient leaner and merely no one guide them ways of how to behave, not to mention giving them specific homework. No passive learners can be truly successful unless they turn themselves in to motivators of study.

Last but not the least, if the pressure of the homework is relatively high, it may cause some negative and even disastrous impacts. Students who are over stressed are likely to escape from the class for the simple reason that they do not finish

the homework. Besides, students may copy others' papers or even employ others to help them doing it. I strongly believe that every teacher does not want to see this consequence, for it has gone away from the main purpose of study and homework.

To sum up, students should be more self-motivated in study and teachers ought to offer them strong belief, confidence as well as encouragement instead of loaded of homework.

Every child should be raise up in a home with two parents,同意OR NOT

Mencius, one of the greatest philosophers and educators living in Chunqiu period of ancient China once commented: "Education is the most important thing for children". It is widely accepted that parents are the first teachers of every single child though the whole lifetime. Therefore, parents have very essential and influential impacts on children's development. Thus many people argue that every child should be raised in a family with two parents, I totally agree.

First and for most, children grew up in a two-parents families will get more care and love physically and emotionally than those raised up in a single-parent families. Take myself as an example, I was brought up by my parents, and for the past 20 years, they took the best care of me, I can feel their tender love and thoughtful consideration. Sometimes, when my father went on a business trip, my mother would come home earlier than usual to be my companion. The most impressive thing that I will remember for the rest of my life was my college entrance examination, I had to stay up late during that certain period in order to get full preparation, my parents pretended to be asleep to alleviate my pressure. However, when I was exhausted in the midnight, I could always find them bring a cup of milk to my room and comfort me. I feel strongly touched by the selfless love from both of my parents.

Secondly, children raised up in a two-parent family are more likely to learn all the advantages from both sides of their parents. My good friend Tom is a case in point. His father is an engineer working in a multinational company while his mother is an English teacher in a high school. We admire him so much for his eloquent spoken English and the excellent logical thinking skills. Thus he is one of the top students in my class and is good at both science and art courses. He once share his study experience with us that he benefited a lot from his parents and he could not achieve his progress without either of his parents' help.

Moreover, children grew up with mother and father tend to build better characteristics. For the simple reason that fathers will ask children to exercise and be healthy and muscular, on the other hand, mothers will teach them to be careful and tender. If a boy was raised up by his mother only, for instance, he will probably be very feminine and act like a girl. To conclude, for all-around development of children, they have better to be brought up by both of their parents.

E-mails make people better writers,同意OR NOT

With the development of modern science and technology, people now are confronted with the digital age, which speeds up the daily life a lot. One of the most essential characters of the fast-paced life is the use of electronic mail, which is a vital innovation of the modern communication system, owing to the advent of internet. Therefore, many people argue that electronic mails have many benefits when comparing to the traditional communication methods, such as letters and faxes. On the other hand, others believe that correspondences are still the major figure for people to communicate. As for me, I totally agree with the former opinion, for electronic mails do have some advantages that traditional letters can not compete.

Firstly, by comparison with the hand-written letters, electronic mails are faster to deliver and more convenient to receive. In the old days, it will take about 20 days for a post man to deliver a letter to a place far away. On the contrary, as long as people can get onto the internet and write down the materials in the context table and fill in the address of their counterpart, all they need to do is to click the mouse, the letter that they write on the computer will be delivered to the designated address in a second. Suppose that I have a close friend studying in the USA, sending electronic mails will save us a lot of time to contact each other every day.

Secondly, sending electronic mails is a economic deal and a saving of people resources. Because all that need to be paid is nothing but the charge for the use of internet. In the old days, people need to go to the post office first and purchase the stamps and envelops before putting the letter in the post box. When people want to send letters from Asian to the western countries, it will cost at least 2 US dollars, which also makes a tough job for staff in the post office. Nevertheless, electronic mails will solve these problems in a faster and more convenient way.

No wonder an increasing number of people choose to use electronic mails instead of the dated letters in the modern society.

Moreover, electronic mails offer much more electronic functions aside from transmitting letters, an enclosure including photos and music, an Excel electronic table or even an essay can all be delivered together with the main content to the address that people type, which a paper-made letter can not even complete.

To sum up, electronic mails surpass the traditional letters in many aspects and people have benefited a lot from the newly invented technology.

scientists and engineer对社会的贡献比artists and writers大.同意OR NOT

The modern society is a huge smelter of all aspects of knowledge and talents, including scientists, engineers as well as artists and writers. However, it is widely accepted that the contributions made by the former people are absolutely of more importance than the latter counterparts. Nevertheless, I strongly consider this standpoint extreme and superficial. For the simple reason that the contributions made by them are of the equal importance to the society and we can hardly delineate the comparability between them.

Undeniably scientists and engineers have invented various things that play a vital part in our daily life. It is beyond the widest imagination that modern people can still lead a simple life without lights, telephones, as well as all kinds of vehicles. Not to mention the new contribution of the computer, which benefit us a lot. However, let us take a careful look at the source of every single invention. As a matter of fact, Innovation, to a great extent, results from supposals and guesses, which require artistic and theoretical attainments. In other words, logical thinking, which is essential to scientists derives from imaginary thinking, which can be nourished in the art field. Moreover, many world famous scientists also boast a sense of art. I can think of no better example than the following one---Albert Einstein. He is the well-known American scientist and the initiator of modern physics. Besides, he is also fascinated with art and plays violin very well. Therefore, art, together with science is a whole entity and it is unwise to view them separately.

In addition, as to the contribution to the development of society, scientists and artiest both play active parts, though in distinctive ways. New inventions increase the living standards while good literature works delight people and offer them inspirations. It bears some resemblance to the Noble Prize, including prize for scientist and artists both. An integrated developed person should boast firm science knowledge as well as insightful thoughts to the society.

    孩子不该做家务只该读书,同意 OR NOT

I always hear old people saying that in the past days, n a family with several children only earned little money, thus almost every single child would have to help with the household work and shoulder the burdens of the adults in order to support the whole family. However, things are quite the opposite in current times. For the main reason that the living standard has increased rapidly. Besides, there is commonly less children in families, especially in the orient.

On the other hand, another problem emerges along. That is, the solitary child is, to some extent, considered the apple in parents’ eyes. Therefore, many parents do their utmost to reach the children’s demands, however absurd they are, and overindulged them a lot. One striking example is that parents will keep the children from all household works and firmly believe that the solo responsibility for children is study.

The negative effect of the phenomenon mentioned above can be very typical. In the first place, children who are spoiled may lack the social and practical skills in the real life and become a dull boy. If one more example is needed, I could mention one of my classmates in middle school. He was a fairly good student in school and can easily got high scores in tests. But when he entered university, it turned out that he could not make his own bed, he found it difficult to communicate with his fellow classmates, and what was worse, he even did not know eggs needed to be peeled before eaten, for he had never asked to do any house work. Secondly, spoiled children will be rather self-centered, which will hamper their growth. Children who use to be the king or queen at home are naturally bring this superior feeling when staying among their peers. In their fixed thinking pattern, everyone else is supposed to obey their orders and once this principle is reversed, they may feel upset and irritable. Last but not the least, every child is destined to grow up and organize his or her own family. Helping with house work can cultivate their ability which will be much practical later wards.

To sum up, a mature and outstanding child should be a good student in school as well as a competent helper at home. Only in this way can a child be balanced developed and benefit the society.

You should not believe everything you read in the nespaper. Agree or disagree?

Many people hold the standpoint that everything printed on the newspaper is nothing but nonsense. As a matter of fact, it is undeniable that pseudo events on the newspaper are spreading without restriction in the current days, thus people should not totally believe what the newspaper preaches. However, I personally believe that the credibility of a newspaper is, to some degree, depend on the reporters who write the articles as well as the readers’ self-motivation during the process of reading.

To begin with, being factual is the soul and essence of every piece of news. If examples are needed, I myself am just the proper choice, because I happen to be a junior majoring in journalism. As qualified reporters, their professional ethnic requires them to stay impartial and uncommitted while reporting the facts. Besides, the major editors also take the responsibility to go through every single word to ensure the accuracy of the news. Therefore, theoretically the newspaper, to some extent, should be firmly believable. Nonetheless, pseudo information, together with large amount of pornographic and violent materials can also be easily found in various kinds of mass media, including newspaper, television, internet, so on so forth. Let us imagine a pressman lacking of self-discipline and professional ethnic while working, he may distort the facts and use the news to attain his personal goal, to attract the public attention, stir the justice or even elicit some negative response.

Ironically, living in a world where information is accumulating at an astonishing speed, we can hardly live without the mass media, neither can we be isolated from the newspapers. For this reason, to tackle the problems mentioned above, readers should be aware of their own positions and always make a clear distinction between right and wrong. Read the newspaper excessively first and select the positive information. Also, view everything perspectively, the essential significance will be figured out in the long run. Never accept or deny anything aimlessly.

To sum up, whoever you are, we owe obligations to each other mutually, if we can see every new day with fresh new eyes and make sure our moral compasses never wave, then everything on the newspaper can be understandable and fairly believable.

Is it advisable for a teenage student to have a part time job?

People who oppose the idea of students taking part time jobs strongly hold the opinion that students should concentrate on nothing but their studies. However, as for me, I believe that students' taking part time jobs helps them to focus on their studies better, provides important practical experience and allows students feelings of success and independence, which is a perfect complement to the academic pursuits.

Some relevant criticisms consider the school as "ivory towers" or a place where study and research divorced from the real world. Therefore, taking a part time job that is related to their major can offer students an exciting chance to connect the theory learned in class with the real society. For example, chemistry is known as one of the most boring, difficult and abstract subjects among the courses learned in collage. Nevertheless, when a student majoring in chemistry takes a part time job in a medical research lab, he will not only be more familiar with his lessons, it's for sure that he may gradually realize how chemistry saves people's life. Thus, he will return to his chemistry felid with a new vigor and regard it as concrete and practical subject.

What is more, taking part time jobs helps to strengthen students' resumes and build contact with some famous companies. It is hard to imagine that a good company will want its employee with a brilliant score list but no practical experience. To the contrary, a good reference of internship acquired when taking part time job will do many job hunters' a favor to find ideal work positions.

Finally, the feeling of success will build students' confidence. They may feel pride because they can do something and be paid by it. As students who have not been to the competitive society yet, they will benefit a lot from this sense of confidence. Besides, even if they make mistakes, it will be acceptable, too. Because failures in this periods will not lead to disastrous outcomes, but will enrich their experiences and they will surely remember these lessons in the future, when they are truly independent.

Big city or countryside, which is better for children to grow up in?

Many people hold the opinion that living in the countryside enjoys a great number of advantages, including the fresh air, cozy atmosphere and the comfortable pace of lif. However, I personally believe that the city provides people with high quality of life and especially better for children to grow up. Because city life offers good education, health care and more exposure to the outside world.

It is doubtless that the most important things in a child's life is health and education. In the country, when children get sick, there is no good hospitals to take them too. Families are often so poor that they can not offer the tuition for every single child to go to school, even schools in the country are usually of low quality, too. On the other hand, the city has excellent health care systems and many good schools. children will be under protect and care, for they often have health insurance. they can also choose different schools, vary according to their own interests.

Children in the city have more opportunities to get into universities. Because most excellent universities have larger space reserved for local residents while they have relatively smaller space for the students from the countryside. If I want my own child to receive high quality of education, I will surely raise them in the city.

Moreover, city salaries are much higher than that in the country. Jobs in the city are also much easier on average. Farmers in the country may spend 12 hours a day working in the field and earn much less money per month than a worker in the city who may only need to spend 8 hours working. Not to mention other high-paid professions. I want my child to have more opportunities to get internships and finally have a well-paid job, which can not be realized out of big cities.

Last but not the least, I want my child to be internationalized and grow up into a larger world. Children's views in the 21st century should not be limited within their immediate surroundings, living in the city will offer a good chance to open their eyes. They will meet people from all over the country and even all over the world. Children can absorb various history and culture from city parks, theatres and museums and become real global citizens.

Highways or public transportation, which should be given perferential fiancing?

As China continues along the road of economic development, new demands are being put on the transportation infrastructure in the country. This is particularly evident in big cities where traffic jams have already became some unavoidable facts. Facing with the confront traffic crisis, I strongly believe that the government should focus on improving public transportation instead of improving roads and highways. Because public transportation is cheaper, better for the environment, and a long term solution for meeting the transportation demands in the future.

The traffic crisis in big cities is mainly due to the increasing number of private cars. For instance, if 30 people drive their own automobile to work everyday, the emission would pollute the air. Having 30 extra cars not only means more traffic jam, all of them will not stop their engines running while idling on the road, handicapped in the traffic jams, which will lead to more pollution. On the other hand, if these 30 people take buses or subways to work every single day, there will be less traffic and also less pollution, too. More buses and subway lines will solve the problem of limit space for parking lots as well.

Moreover, investment on public transportation also makes sense for us customers. As far as I calculate, the most expensive ticket for public transportation in the city cost about 4 Yuan, taking transformation into consideration. In another word, two trips across the city every day for a whole year will also be cheaper than a fifth of the cost of buying a new

car. Not to mention the extra expenditure for maintaining, fixing and petrol. Besides, it is difficult to find a parking lot but expensive to stay there. In a word, the local citizens, the environment, and the city-planing perspective will all benefit from the investment on public transportation.

While some people may argue that investing money on roads and highways is imperatively important for our country. But I personally believe that current traffic disasters is becoming  the biggest headache problem for the local government and residents, and it will be even worse if not handled properly. Therefore, solving the transportation problem is most prevalent in most large cities and investment and support from the government is necessary.

Ex.18 What makes a good boss?

A good boss is an important factor for a successful workplace. Best bosses are strict, creative and flexible. If a boss lacks any of these qualities, problems might arise in the company.

Many people claim that bosses should be full of humor and kind enough when dealing with the company affairs. However, strict attitude must come the first among the various characteristics of a leader, because work itself is a serious business. A boss must make sure that his employees work hard and everything goes under the schedule. He should set up regulations for others to follow and personally obey them. Assuming that a boss always comes to work late, and leave earlier, or spends all day joking with his co-workers, then the employees will neither respect him nor work hard. Therefore, a boss needs to be serious and have a professional attitude when working in order to set himself as an example in the workplace.

Secondly, to confront the countless problems that occur to the company, especially some emergency, a qualified boss should be creative enough to master every situation. For example, a client announces that he needs the deadline for the company to be earlier, then the boss has to figure out the key to the problem. He should motivate his employees and make them work harder and more efficiently. Bosses who are not aware of the creativity may force their employees to work overtime. Under these circumstances, worker would be tired up and upset too, which makes things even worse. It turns out that they wok slower and produce poor qualities. On the contrary, creative bosses will use a small amount of money to treat their employees a dinner in the office and encourage them to stay late and work harder. In this way, the company may meet the deadline on time, preserve the production qualities and arise the morale of the co-workers as well.

Last but not the least, the most important quality that a good boss must possess in flexibility. Though I mentioned strict work rules and regulations are of great necessity for a workplace, whereas, good bosses realize that sometimes the rules should to be bent or broke if needed. For instance, bosses form serious attendance systems in the company and require every single one to follow. But supposing that an employee with a good attendance record has to ask for a leave for some private reasons, a good boss should let him do it. In this way, workers loyalty to the company and mutual understanding will be strenghtened and they will be more happy and productive when working with their boss.

Ex.17 Learn by yourself or with a teacher?

Whether we need a teacher or not while studying really depends on circumstances. The relationship between teachers and a new subject is somehow similar with that a tour guide and an unknown city. When we come to an unknown city for the first time, we definitely need a tour guide. Although some people claim that we nay have a detailed map with us, thus it seems to be unlikely functional, for we can hardly understand the mysterious symbols on the map. It is not

surprisingly that as to the field of study, beginners should learn with teachers who can guide the directions. Teachers will instruct something like where to begin, what to learn and even what kind of bibliography to refer to. When we confront difficulties, we can turn to them for help, because teachers' advice for beginners will always be wise to follow. Besides, with their help, we can learn new knowledge easier, faster and more interestingly.

After a period of time, when we have already learned much, we begin to understand something about the city, even if there still being some places that we have not been to, it does not matter, because we have gained the ability to recognize the mysterious symbols on the map. What we need at that time is not a tour guide, instead, we need a more detailed map. As to study, we need richer reference. We still have many fields that remain unknown to us, nevertheless, not puzzling any more. The task in front of us is simple enough, that is to conquer it one by one, step by step. No matter we are working on a certain skill or preparing for a test, the key is just practicing more. Whatever we are learning, just keep the old saying in mind, that is practisce makes perfect.

After another period of time, we can be other's tour guide, but we still want to learn more. Now it is high time that we found some experts and consult them some specific  questions. Moreover, though the consultant, we can discuss with the experts and gain more inspiration from them. The solution of any problem will not just remain there and wait for you. We have to use our brains and seek for them.

In a word, having a teacher is always better than having none. But the importance of teachers varies from period to period. And more often, depends on which stage we are in when studying.

Ex.16 What's your opinion on a new restaurant built in your neighborhood?

Until recentely our neighbor has not had any restaurant. We only have some convenient stores and severl groceries, even some street-side food stands. I am personally in favor of openning a restaurant in our neighbor, because it will make deweller's life more convenient and help the local economy. The whole communty will benefit from it,too.

After a whole day of work, it is a time-consuming and tiring thing for every local residents to cook, they have to do the dishes afterwards, which makes it even worse. People have to spend at least an hour in the supermarket buying the ingredients and use more time cooking. After all of that, they tend to feel exhausted and have no family gather-together time. Assuming that a local restaurant is available, people can just take a few minites of walk to dining out and enjoy the pleasant evening time with their families. Besides, they can take a leisurely walk after dinner, which will benefit their health as well.

A new restaurant will also help the local economy. Building the restaurant will require the labors such as carpenters, plumbers and electricians. The new reataurant will need to buy a great deal of food and vegetables from the local market and supplies like furnitures and cooking utensiles from the merchants. Moreover, opening a new restaurant will also creat many job opportunities, such as managers, waiters and chefs. The most important point is that the restaurant will potentially attract business from the surounding neighborhoods and bring investment to our local cnmmunity.

Last but not least, a new restaurant will also offer local people a public space to gather and talk. they can hold parties and do whatever they want there. In the old days, it is difficult for people to find a place to share their emotions, for streets and markets are too nosiy and stores have no place to accomodate enough seats. New freindship will be forged while old relationship will be strenghtened. However, this kind of advantages bringed by the restaurant is hardly measured with its economic benefits. But from my point of view, a new restaurant is sorely needed in my community.

Ex.15 What makes a good neighbor

Neighbors are extraordinary important people in our daily life. Some people make decisions about what place to live in according to the neighbors around that area. From my point of view, a good neighbor should be respectful, vigilant, and community-minded.

First of all, the foundation of every relationship, no matter it is family, friends, or neighborhood, is doubtless respectful. Having a respectful neighbor around means that both of you will be warm and polite when seeing each other. Neighbors do not necessarily have to be close friends, but it will be queered if they are strangers. Since neighbors live so close to each other, sometimes it is unavoidable to learn some personal details about neighbors. To be respectful is not only something concerns polite attitude, a respectful person will not intrude upon their neighbors’ private affairs deliberately unless it is needed. Moreover, they do not share others privacy with people around.

To be vigilant is also an important factor of a good neighbor. A vigilant man will call the police immediately when he sees a thief trying to break into his neighbor's house. He will take emergent action when other neighbor's children are in dangerous situation, or at least, give an alarm. When some new policy about security has been announced by the government, vigilant neighbors will tell others quickly. To some extent, neighbors are the closest people besides  families. Having vigilant and helpful neighbors will make your community safer and more harmonious.

Last but not least, good neighbors should be community-minded. They care about their local environment. Good neighbors never throw garbage on the ground randomly, they do not play loud music during night or get drunk and fight in public places. They always take other people's thought into consideration and aware of the importance of the community as a whole. They concentrate on creating a peaceful and happy atmosphere. As a matter of fact, every single person is an important aspect as well as a essential chain in the relationship of neighborhood. Assuming that we all act as respectful, vigilant and community-minded, the whole area will be benefit from it in the end.

Ex.14 Attending classes, required or optional?

It is doubtless that the most important responsibility for college students is pursuing their study to the best of their abilities. In most cases, it means that students are required to take every single class carefully. However, as a matter of fact, not all classes are of the same equality to each student. If a student can figure out a more effective way to manage his study and he is allowed to do so, the result will surely turns out to be fantastic. That is to say, I definitely agree with the point that classes should be optional for college students.

Some students claim that they can not concentrate in large lecture classes and find reading quietly in libraries a more efficient way of study. Assuming that students can gain more knowledge by reading themselves and meeting the advisor during office hour instead of attending classes, then we should not force them to take every compulsory class that they can not concentrate, instead, offering them more free time may end in good result.

Ironically, the most powerful arbiter of testing students' learning result is examinations. Therefore, the limit time before exams seems of great importance to every student. Whether they can arrange the time effectively will somewhat affect their scores afterwards. Smart students should know how to set up their own study schedules to double the time. For instance, a student who is rather proficient in maths but poor in English can quit some of the maths classes and spend the time learning English to balance his final scores. If he is forced to be present in every maths class, the best result may be he finds it boring to learn the familiar materials about maths and waste the efficient time for other courses. Whereas, the worst result can be he can not figure out his own way to study and is ready to follow the instructions given by others. Only them who knows his own shortcomings and aware of how to master time can eventually become the final elite.

Many people argue that it is the school's responsibility to make a curriculum that is suitable to every student. From my point of view, it is too superficial to say that the school knows everybody's interest and arrange the most sensible schedule for every single student. Even the best college can only supply a comparative flexible curriculum which allows students to choose their own course according to their interest. There is bound to be difference between individuals and students should learn to adapt to these differences and arrange their own time efficiently. As to the school, the teachers should trust their students and offer them more flexibility. Leaving the tests as the final arbiter of academic excellence.

just grab a quick bite to eat. Because they hold that eating at home and cooking for themselves plusing doing the washing after meal will be a lot of trouble. However, as for me, I definitely think it is worthy enough, for it is cheaper, healthier and more enjoyable.

First of all, buying my own ingredients and cooking for myself is much less expensive than eating in the restaurant. The restaurant has to spend much more money such as the rent for the house, the salary for the waiters, and the groceries for the food that they offer. Besides, as merchants, the only goal for them is pursuing more profit. While cooking at home cost nothing but the ingredients and some time. Therefore, dinning out is doubtless costing more than eating at home. In addition to less expensive, when I buy my own groceries, I will always try my best to find the freshest and cleanest meat and vegetables available. On the contrary, the restrauant may think it is
more important to buy the largest quantities of ingredients at the lowest price only to gain more profits. For instance, when I am buying meat, I try to buy meat with the least fat on it. Whereas, restrauants will surely add more fat and oil to make the dishes taste better. But for me, and for all consumers, healthy should be more important.

Last but not the least, cooking food with my family and friends will bring me a special kind of joy. Living in the world that attempt to turn everyone into consumers, I enjoy being creative and invent some new dishes. I remember once many friends of mine decided to make hot pot all by ourselves, when cooked together and sat around the table, sharing the delicious vegetables and the juicy meat, it turned out to be a rather unforgetable experience afterwards. To sum up,although shopping for the ingredients and cooking by ourselves will cost some time, but finally the hours we enjoy really deserves at the end of the day.

The professor cites one of his female friends as an example. She always wanted to be a teacher. And before university she was so interested and had so much enthusiasm in that. But later when she got into the work after graduation, she found out that she had to spend a lot time at home grading papers which was not what she expected before. And she had to give up weekends sometimes for her work too. All these happened because she only saw the interests but not the pressure. She really enjoyed being in the class with the students but she also started to worry that she might not have enough energy to handle all the works and pressure.

This process starts with solid materials and then you cut piece by piece on the materials until some shape is formed. This process has a problem which is that it doesn’t allow people to make mistakes. For example, you sculpture a face and you make a nose, eyes, but then if you don’t like the nose, you have to get rid of the whole piece.

    2.) Additive process

This process is just like its name additive. People add things on to the sculpture. This process allows mistakes. The main material people use for this process is clay. If you made a nose and you don’t like it, you can just 英文不记得了,用中文大概意思是

       你就可以把这个你不喜欢的鼻子弄掉,然后换上新的。

Use the information in the lecture to describe the two processes and compare them with details.

    Ex.12 Why people visit museums?

People travel to different places for a variety of reasons, and one of the most important reasons among them is to see new place, culture and the way of people's life there. For a outsider arriving at a total new place and even only a short amount of time is available, visiting museums is doubtless the best choice, for museums offers a glimpse to step in the local life directly.

Some people visit museums for educational reasons. Because the museums provide a great amount of academic materials and more interesting than reading books or just studying on campus. For example, reading a primitive book seems boring, pale and somewhat abstract. However, seeing the real skeleton of dinosaurs or fossils of the animals which have been extinct long ago in the national natural museum may be thrilling and full of fun. Meanwhile, museums not only bring us knowledge, it can also remind us of the distant history vividly. Many students in China are surely familiar with the Nanjing massacre happened in 1936 through the history class, they feel sad and horrifying when thinking of it, but a trip to the Memorial Museum in Nanjing turns out to be an unforgetable experience that moved many people to tears. Museums do have the power to make the mundane education come to  life through the distinct vision effect.

What is more, lot's of people travel just for relax and entertain themselves. Museums can also be a perfect venue for leisure and recreation. Even those nominally educational museums offer exciting attractions like movie theaters and special cultural performances.People can also enjoy dances, gourmet dinners, lectures and musical concerts from jazz to rock and roll. Many museums provide special nights or weeks especially for young people, they can have parties or various social activities there. Museums are compared to a huge bridge, connecting the history and normal life, local and outsider, as well as culture and entertainment.

Ex.9. Living in a small town or in a big city?

People seldom agree with each other even in such trivial issues as preference between living in big cities or small towns. A number of them keep constantly complaining about the rapid living rhythm related to lives in big cities, including the headache-caused traffic jam and noise. However, as youngsters in the 21st century, I personally prefer living in big cities.

Undeniably, small towns bring people a cozy living atmosphere, whereas, as the development of modern science and technology, people nowadays are pursuing for higher living standards, which big cities absolutely offers. There are more job opportunities readily available as well as chances for advancement in the certain filed. In addition, people can also get a decent pay in developed cities. Even students can gain more chances for internship, which will lay a solid foundation after their graduation. Besides, children are supposed to receive better education in big cities than their counterparts who are in small towns, because of the advanced teaching facilities in better schools.

Secondly, a modernized city does have more public utilities and superior living standards. Supposing that a big shopping mall located just near your community which offer a variety of commodities and services. You can buy everything when needed, chat happily with friends in the cafeteria, even hold a big party when the family get together. You can travel everywhere, owning to the bus lines and the subway which connect every point of the city. You can take a long journey abroad because of the airports and watch more channels on television even stay at home. All that mentioned above makes life convenient and colorful in big cities.

Moreover, small towns do bring a special life style, for example, people do not need to get up so early because the traffic is in good condition almost every time. Most of them do not suffer high working pressure so that people will live more comfortably and healthily, thanks to the harmonious relationship. It is no doubt a perfect place to relax when time is available. Nevertheless, assuming that we are choosing for a place to live, big cities will surely be the best choice.

Ex.8. Has television destroyed communication among people?

With the development of modern science and technology, television has become one of the major means of communication among people and seems increasing difficult to ignore. No wonder that the assertion that television has destroyed relationships among family and friends sounds pretty plausible. However, I can hardly agree with this view of point.

Television, considered as one of the most famous inventions in the last century, is playing an essential part of people's recreation with its wide availability and prosperous programs. Undeniably, the only thing that every individual owns equally is the 24 hours a day. Therefore, the more time one spends on watch television, the less time that he can be company with his friends and family. According to a scientific research, average child in the United States spend

as much time watch television per day as they have in the school. It is not surprising that we can easily find an article titled "Television took my husband away" in the newspaper.

As a matter of fact, it is the great pressure that modern society brings instead of the television that took her husband away. There is no definite evidence to show that people today surely endure more pressure than their counterparts. But it is absolutely true that they do undergo great pressure from various directions, such as study, work, family, so on, so forth. Nowadays, a bachelor's degree may not guarantee a decent job, many companies post their want ads require the applicants to have a master's degree at least, which will take two or three years long. People do need television to let them out to some extend.

In addition, people will always do things that they want to do. A reasonable investigation shows that the people who have ever received better education are more aware of the deleterious aspects that television brings and will deliberately get rid of it. On the contrary, the ones who deal with everything through escape will surely find other ways to do so, even though television

has never existed. For example alcohol or gambling, which will do harm to the people around. Hence, it is not television but the great pressure and people themselves who destroyed communications.
